Changing the Education System?

Every child is given the chance to go to school. But our schooling system is broken... Let's just talk about what kids learn and who they learn them from first, how our schools teach them second and how children learn third.

Our children learn a lot of good things, such as not to drink, how to behave, not to steal, good manners, and how to have respect for elders. They also learn a lot of valuable skills to help them in the future, such as fetching water, and the long speeches about our place in the world. The problem is that all these things they will learn from their parents. The calmecac only teaches them astronomy, law, science, art, writing reading, math, history and many more things. But these things don't make our children become good people. Yes, art is very important but it isn't a need. At the telpochcalli children are taught how to work hard and are educated in religion and history. However, the lessons here are boring and they do nothing to contribute to the society. Maybe there is a solution? A lot of people have been suggesting to put the two schools together so there is a mix between working hard and learning about art. Our society should not put children in different schools just because of how rich or poor they are. But we will come back to this later.

Lately, some very smart people have been researching how the average child's mind works and their results are going to help our society decide whether to change our schooling system or not. They have found that children at a young age are very dumb and they do what they are told. But some children do not want to do what they are told, so the best strategy is to scare them. That is why these smart people suggest parents telling their kids scary stories of karma to get their child to do what they want. However, as children grow older they start to not get as scared by the stories as before. That is when parents should start to beat their child. The study shows that kids react to different levels of beatings for different types of bad behavior. For example, you should not cut off your child's limb because they yell too loud. Save that for when they break your most precious vase. The study also shows that rich kids actually are so spoiled that they need a rougher time in school. It says that the rich kids should not be taught so many good things like art, law and science because they don't appreciate it. It also makes them cockier because since they are rich, they get to do more things. For poor kids, going to the telpochcalli make them feel very bad because they have to go to a "bad" school just because they are poor. So, the researchers have proposed an idea. Three actually, one is to make the rich kids go to the poor kid's school and the poor kids go to the rich kid's school. Or, to let the children go to the better school (the calmecac) if they show greater skill. Or, to mix the things the two schools teach together and form a new school system.
